Hamburg
There’s something in the air that sets the port of Hamburg apart from other European cities. Known as Germany’s Gateway to the World, you can see the wide range of influences on the skyline – both through traditional architectural masterpieces as well as modern glass and steel structures. We’d especially recommend climbing to the top of St Michael’s Church for an incredible birds-eye view of the city. This is a city of great culture too – you’ll find numerous world-class galleries and museums throughout, and don’t forget the Beatles memorably honed their craft on the Hamburg club circuit in the early ’60s. In the evening, feast on fresh locally caught fish at one of the restaurants on the banks of the Elbe, then head out to sample some of Germany’s most famous nightlife spots.
